Dad and Me March 8, 2008

The last page that I created in this Album was a special page for daddy and his little girl.

 

There was a couple of different things that I like.  First in the Close up of the following Photo:

I’m not sure if you can tell but I used a sticker that said “It’s rather nice to hug you twice”  So I found a sticker that matched the saying.  Than created my own tag.  I tried to mimic the writing on the original sticker.  Secondly in this close up you see the embellishment that I created that says “Tiny Blessings”,  it’s actually printed on vellum.  Which we all know can be difficult to adhere.  If you use glue it’ll turn over time, and most other adhesives show through, UNLESS, you buy a special vellum adhesive.  At the time I didn’t have one so to hide my glue I used the ribbons and highlighted them with other embellishments.

In this close up you can see that I created the flower that says “And”.  It’s easy enough to create, and you can use all sorts of different punches to create your own flower.   In the tag that says “Me”, I used a stamp I picked up at the dollar store.  I then added the flowers to create texture and dimension to that tag itself.  I also created the tag saying Dad by using scraps.  Layering is a great way to make something stand out.  I used Eyelets on the side and used ribbon to enhance the tag even farther.

Mom & Me Page March 4, 2008

Sooo what next in my baby girl album??? A Mom & Me page.  Those precious pictures of Mom and Baby are important to remember.

In this page I used some great ribbon that I found in the bottom right.  I originally didn’t have a flower on the ribbon but unfortunately there was some damage to that part of the ribbon (it was an end piece I bought at a bargain bin).  I thought the flower was a delicate addition and a great way to hide it. I made all the tags on this page with scraps as usual. Layering is so important.  It gives variety to you page. Be creative!

I’ve included a close up of the tag because of the wiring.  I saw a sticker in the store I liked and tried to recreate it home.  It was challenging, but I enjoyed it.

Tub Time March 3, 2008

Looking back on some of my old photo’s I remember seeing a few pictures of me in the tub or sink.  I thought the perfect addition to my baby girl album would be a tub time page.  On this page I use scrap paper I had to make the tags and the squares on the clothes line.  The bubbles on the tag that says Time are made from vellum.

I’ve posted a close up of the tub on the page.  This is the actual sticker that I purchased but you can see upon closer inspection that it could very easily be duplicated. As soon as I get to my daughters page I hope to give it a try. Give it a try and let me know how you do!

Nighty Night Page March 2, 2008

Little Ones are soooo cute when they sleep.  I couldn’t help but create this page.  There are lots of cool features that I like on this page. First off the lettering that is used for spelling out Lullaby are fuzzy and soft.  The moon was just a plain old punch out of a Moon.  I used pencil crayon to make the cheeks and a black pen to create the highlights of the face.  The eyes are just regular old movable eyes that you can purchase at any craft or dollar store.  The sticker that says “sweet dreams” was a paper punch out.  To make it have more texture I used Crystal Laquer.  I first applied a thin layer and then kept adding layers until it was the thickness I wanted. The clouds are created with a flower punch.

Our Baby Girl Page March 1, 2008

One of the things I’m looking forward to doing as a new mom is taking lots of pictures of my little one.  So when creating this album I decided this would be a cute page to show off any adorable little girl.  I assume I’m not the only mom going to do this so I created this page for another little girls album.

I did a lot of fun things on this page.  Many of them not challenging.   The heart in the top left corner I just free-styled on some scraps.  I then glued it to some cardstock and just cut carefully around it.  I used plain old black ink to create the stitches.

For the flowers and 3d paint in the following photo:

I first laid out the flowers out in a way that I liked. Once I was sure I was happy I glued them down.  Now for the 3d pain there are a couple of ways to do it.  You can be brave and just apply as your creative spirit  feels or you can take a pencil and draw where you feel like you want your dots.  This can be time consuming.  Especially if your using several colour like I did. So as Bob Ross says: Be brave, you can do it.

As you can see here in this photo the flower’s on the right of the page are all created with various punches. I used different colours of paper and different flowers to create bigger and varying flowers. To create half a flower or the side view just take your flower and cut it in half.  I also found these really cute plastic insects and my local dollar store to add a little something

It’s a girl! February 28, 2008

New mom’s don’t have the time to scrapbook (or so my family and friends tell me). So I figured what better gift than an “It’s a Girl” Page.  Mom has a place to put her new pictures that will keep them safe for years!

I love this page because of the ribbon I found.  I was in a small no name store in a tiny town and I had to make use of it. To highlight the ribbon even more I used brads in the tiny holes in the ribbon. Here’s a close up of it.

Baby Girls Arrival Page February 27, 2008

I made an album for a little girl awhile ago and here is the first page in the album.  I cut all the tags out of different scraps I had running around with a plastic template I picked up for a dollar or so.  The cloth diaper hanging in the middle is also made from scrap material my mom had from a blanket she made.
